1. Open door policy

One of the key ways to make sure that every team member feels equally important to the process and execution of tasks is to have an open door policy.

  • With an open door policy, ideas, challenges, issues and blockers can be tabled and be easily taken on board
  • There won't be any fear of being shut down for saying what is on your mind as a team member

2. Acknowledge effort

One way to ensure that constructive criticism is taken on board is to acknowledge whatever effort has gone the work done.

  • When effort is acknowledged the team member in question will be more open to taking onboard feedback than when being dismissed or ridiculed for whatever work was delivered.
  • When a good job is done and acknowledged, the praise from it will
    provide more energy and drive for every team member to keep pushing at their best.

3. Create a sense of belonging

Team members should be involved in the process of setting team goals, targets and priorities.

  • Involving every individual on the team in the process of setting goals and priorities will add more drive,
  • The team’s targets are also their targets as individuals.

4. Respect works both ways

Respect is a must for every team member, giving or receiving.

  • Respect goes a long way in building relationships and in turn harmony.
  • Everyone knows that they are respected so there is no fear of being unfairly treated.
